Worth the balancing act?

I know so many of us are trying to "balance it all". I had an experience that showed me is important to balance what you value/brings you peace and trim out the rest.


A few years ago I thought I should "feel more energy and be healthier." I increased time spent exercising and cut into my writing time. After doing that for a few weeks, I felt more grumpy and less fulfilled. I missed my writing time. It gave me bigger boost of joy than the endorphins I got from extra exercise.


I got back to writing more and celebrated that I was content writing. I don't need to chase next self care/mood boosting hype.
